Food Assistance Through Walmart Gift Cards
Holiday Hope can help with food by providing Walmart gift cards for all our clients’ holiday shopping needs. This change began during Covid, and since then many families have shared how much they appreciate this approach. Gift cards allow parents to shop for the foods their family enjoys, while also giving them the flexibility to choose items that meet their dietary needs.
For clients with food allergies, this method is especially important. It prevents the risk of receiving a pre‑packed food basket that might contain items capable of causing a severe allergic reaction. Because of the overwhelming number of requests to continue using gift cards instead of baskets, Holiday Hope made this a permanent part of our holiday meals program in 2024.
This simple shift ensures dignity, safety, and choice for every family we serve.
Adopt A Family for the Holidays
Adopt‑A‑Family
This program is a wonderful opportunity for churches, community groups, clubs, and businesses to come together and support a family during the holidays. Participants can provide a holiday meal, toys, and gifts—creating a meaningful and personalized experience for the family they adopt.
Adopters receive information about the family and their specific needs, allowing them to give thoughtfully and intentionally. Many participants have even formed lifelong friendships through this program, making the experience just as heartwarming for the giver as it is for the recipient.
Toys for under the tree
Holiday Hope offers two programs to ensure children have something special to open during the holidays.
The toys we receive from the KGW Toy Drive are distributed to specific groups that request assistance each year. This helps us make sure those toys reach families and organizations with the greatest need.
For individual families, Holiday Hope provides gift cards so parents can purchase toys for their own children. This approach has become incredibly meaningful—families love being able to choose gifts that fit their children’s interests and needs. It brings families together, lifts spirits, and helps create warm holiday memories.
In 2024, we received an overwhelming number of requests to continue offering gift cards as the primary way for families to receive toys. Because of the joy, dignity, and relief it brings, this method has quickly become a cherished part of our toy program.
